'Candy Cane Lane'
BRISTOLVILLE -- The Bristolville United Methodist Church Christmas play is titled "Candy Cane Lane, A Recipe for Life." Performances will be today at 7 p.m. and Sunday at the 11 a.m. worship service. A reception with cookies and punch will follow each performance. The play is directed by Cindy Hickey and music directed by Pastor Roger Zale. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the program. Choir performance Sunday
GIRARD -- Girard First Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St., invites the community to join them for their upcoming Christmas services. A special musical celebration of the season, "Let All Heaven and Nature Sing," will be presented by the Adult Choir on Sunday at 10:45 a.m.
New Castle Christmas
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- "O Come, All Ye Faithful -- A Musical Celebration of Christmas" will be presented on Sunday at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Jefferson Street. This program of sacred Christmas music, directed by Steve Pridon, will feature the Celebration Ringers and Singers, the Sheet & amp; Tube Brass Quartet, the Faithful Ringers, Amy Liggett, Mikael Pridon and Dr. Raymond Hylton, soloists, David Mikesell, percussionist, and harpist Kirk Kupensky. All free-will donations received will benefit the Lawrence County Habitat of Humanity. Refreshments and fellowship will immediately follow in the church hall. Voices of Christmas
STRUTHERS -- The joint choirs of the Struthers and Lockwood United Methodist Congregations will be presenting a Christmas Cantata, "The Voices of Christmas," Sunday. It will be presented at 9:30 a.m. at Struthers and 11 a.m. at Lockwood. Struthers UMC is at 33 Sexton Street. Lockwood UMC is at 4570 Lockwood Blvd., Youngstown.
Returning to the church
BOARDMAN -- St. Luke Parish, 5235 South Ave., will host the series titled "Catholics Returning Home" on six consecutive Monday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Teachers' Lounge beginning Jan. 10. These sessions are for non-practicing Catholics who are seeking answers to questions about returning to the church. There will be informal sharing and an update of the Catholic faith. Brooks, pastor of the Ebenezer Church of God In Christ of New Castle, announces a "Two Day Holy Ghost Revival" with Pastor Roderick Hennings of Buffalo, N.Y. 'The Very First Christmas'
GIRARD -- On Sunday at 6 p.m., families are invited to a musical presentation. First Assembly of God, 6779 Belmont Avenue, Girard, is hosting "The Very First Christmas," which will include drama, a bell choir, a children's chorus and several soloists. People are encouraged to take an evening during this busy holiday season and enjoy the Christmas message. Refreshments will be served after the presentation. This service is free and open to the community. First Assembly of God will also observe a special Candlelight Communion Service at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.
'Signs of Christmas'
YOUNGSTOWN -- On Sunday during the 10:45 a.m. worship hour, Faith Community Church (United Church of Christ) at 1919 E. Midlothian Blvd., will have the Youth Christmas Program, presenting the cantata "Signs of Christmas." All are invited to come and enjoy the sound and sights of Christmas.
Quartet plays Sunday
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Calvary Temple Worship Center will have the Dan Murphy Quartet on Sunday at 7 p.m. Murphy is a talented jazz pianist who not only plays solo piano, but has spent nearly two years touring in the United States and Japan with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. They perform an average of 250 shows annually. Murphy has performed with the Disney Collegiate All Star Band in Orlando and Anaheim. He most recently worked as a pianist for Princess Cruises. WARREN -- The Body of Christ Church of God in Christ, 2025 W. Market St., will have its Christmas celebration Thursday at 6:30 p.m. There will be Christmas skits, choir singing and speeches.
Food pantry open
EAST PALESTINE -- Grace Lutheran Food Pantry will be open from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. Grace Church is located at the corner of Grant and Walnut Streets. The pantry is open to all low-income people who live in the East Palestine School District. Those coming for food should come to the Walnut Street office entrance.
