CHICAGO -- Lorenzo Gordon had 19 points and Neil Plank added 16 Saturday as Illinois State dominated the closing minutes for a 73-67 victory over Loyola of Chicago.
Loyola (2-7) leapt to an early 18-7 lead, but the Redbirds (8-2) fought back to hold a 40-35 margin at the half.
They expanded the lead to nine points at 44-35 before Loyola rallied to take a short-lived 52-51 lead on a 3-point basket by Dave Telander with 11 minutes left.
The Redbirds held Loyola to one basket in the closing three minutes and converted six-of-eight free throws in the final 26 seconds to seal the victory.
DePaul 80,Illinois-Chicago 62
ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Quemont Greer scored a career-high 32 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead DePaul against Illinois-Chicago.
DePaul came from behind for the win, trailing 40-33 early in the second half.
LeVar Seals finished with 13 points for DePaul (6-3). Cliff Clinkscales added 7 points and 13 assists.
Elliot Poole had 16 points for Illinois-Chicago (3-5), and Armond Williams scored 15 points and seven rebounds.
Butler 73, Ind.-Pur.-Ft. Wayne 39
INDIANAPOLIS -- Bruce Horan sank five 3-pointers for all 15 of his points to lead Butler to a 73-39 win over Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday.
Brandon Polk also had 15 for Butler (4-3), and Avery Sheets added 10.
The Bulldogs shot 52 percent from the field and 44 percent from beyond the arc, while the Mastodons (3-7) managed just 31 percent shooting overall and 17 percent from 3-point range.
David Simon led the Mastodons with 14, with no other Fort Wayne players scoring in double figures.
