Warren library goes wireless

New computers will allow the library to upgrade its software and training.
WARREN -- The Thomas Meeting Room at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library has gone wireless.
The meeting room is now able to host computer classes without cords.
A gift of nearly $3,800 from Friends of the Warren Library allowed the purchase of five new Dell computers with Windows XP operating systems and five new 17-inch monitors.
A wireless router provides instant access both to the library's network and the Internet.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for our customers," said Rob Liste, tech center manager. "The computers are top of the line, so in coming months we'll be able to expand our computer class offerings to include today's most popular software programs."
Easy setup
The main library has been offering computer classes for several years, but the computers and software had become obsolete.
"Most of our customers interested in taking computer classes are using the newest software, and we couldn't meet their training needs because our computers were so out of date," Liste said.
The new system also will be used for staff training.
Liste said the new equipment makes setup and disassembly a breeze because network wires are not needed to run each computer. "When we're finished, we can just roll all of the equipment out of the room and into a storage area for easy retrieval."
Introduction to Windows and Introduction to the Internet are the two classes now being offered. Call the tech center at (330) 399-8807, Ext. 406, for more information or to register for the free classes.
