DISTRICT Joe Petro leads W. Reserve pastMineral Ridge

BERLIN CENTER -- Joe Petro scored 26 points and pulled down 15 rebounds, leading Western Reserve High to a 77-64 victory over Mineral Ridge in an Inter-County League boys basketball game on Tuesday.
Dave Ferrano added 20 points for the Blue Devils (2-3, 1-1 ICL), while Brock Christy finished with 11 points and 10 assists. Jeff Zatchok had 10 rebounds.
Mineral Ridge (3-2, 0-2) was led by Nick Diana and Vance Kiersey, who scored 20 points each. Kiersey also had seven rebounds.
Western Reserve led 16-13 at the end of the first quarter, then took control of the game with a 24-17 edge in the second period for a 40-30 halftime lead.
The Rams got to within 58-50 after three quarters.
Canton South 56, West Branch 44
BELOIT -- Ben Skelley had 16 points, leading three Canton South players in double figures.
Cory Bourquin added 14 points for the Wildcats (2-2), while Nick Dean scored 10.
Mike Fugate and Brandon McMillen scored eight points each to lead West Branch (1-4).
McMillen also had six rebounds, while Jared Hoffman had six points and seven rebounds.
