DeBartolo to build in Fla.

TAMPA, Fla. -- DeBartolo Development plans to partner with developer Beat Kahli to build a 1-million-square-foot, $200 million condominium project in Avalon Park, Orange County, Florida.
Tentatively scheduled to start next summer, the Avalon Park project will be in the largest single condominium project in Central Florida, developers said.
The project will add approximately 1,000 residences to the growing East Orlando area.
"The Avalon Park project is harmonious with our strategic plan to develop more premium mixed-used projects," said Edward Kobel, president of DeBartolo Development. "We look forward to partnering with Beat to bring his Avalon Park vision to fruition."
Kobel adds that he was attracted to the project through Kahli's master plan, which mirrors the way the Swiss design their housing close to shops and restaurants. Both Kobel and Kahli share a Swiss heritage.
In addition to proximity to the town center and good schools, Avalon Park residents will have access to pools, parks (including the planned regional park), and the fitness center at Timber Creek High School. Unit floor plans and pricing have not been established.
DeBartolo Development develops premium retail and mixed-use real estate projects throughout the United States. Edward J. DeBartolo Jr. is affiliated with the company, according to its Web site.
