Chaz Carr scores 14 as Boston beats Michigan for second year in a row
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Chaz Carr scored 14 of his game-high 16 points in the second half and Boston University handed Michigan its first home loss of the season, 63-52, Tuesday night.
Rashad Bell added 14 points, Matt Wolff had 11 and Kevin Gardner had 10 for the Terriers (6-2).
The Wolverines (6-4) won all six of their home games to start the season, and 22 of the past 25 at Crisler Arena, where BU has beaten them two years in a row.
Brent Petway and Chris Hunter each had 13 points for Michigan, which was missing three starters because of injuries. Dion Harris, the Wolverines' leading scorer, was 1-of-11 from the floor and finished with four points -- 11 below his average.
The key sequence came early in the second half, when Carr hit 3-pointers to open and close a 10-2 run that gave the Terriers a 43-37 advantage. BU never trailed again.
Michigan drew as close as 50-49 on a Petway dunk with just fewer than four minutes remaining, but Bell hit two free throws and Gardner followed a Michigan miss with a putback to up the lead to 54-49.
Carr hit 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch to clinch the game.
The Terriers went 5-1 on their six-game road trip.
