BOYS ROUNDUP Liberty's Kershaw is tough in final period



He scored 12 points as the Leopards held off Struthers.
LIBERTY -- Edward Kershaw scored 12 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter, including two free throws with 16 seconds remaining that sealed the victory, leading Liberty High to a 60-57 victory over visiting Struthers Tuesday.
The Leopards (2-1) led 42-38 after three quarters, but Struthers (3-1) rallied to tie the score at 46 on a free throw by Brandon Cornwell with 5 minutes, 30 seconds remaining in the game.
A basket by Kershaw gave Liberty the lead again, 48-46, at the five-minute, and the Leopards led the remainder of the game.
It was 58-55 with about one minute to go when Dave Mathews was fouled attempting a 3-pointer. Mathews made the first two free throws to close the margin to one point, but he missed the third.
Both teams missed several free throws the remainder of the way -- the Leopards were 2-for-6 and Struthers was 0-for-2 -- but Kershaw's two foul shots provided the final margin.
Mathews led the Wildcats with 20 points and he sank four 3-pointers. Chris Kadvan had five rebounds.
Chris Harrison had seven rebounds for Liberty.
Lakeview 61,Campbell Memorial 43
CAMPBELL -- Trevor Mathews had 14 points and nine rebounds to lead Lakeview.
Alex Koltsor added 13 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals for the Bulldogs (3-1), while Mike Robinson finished with 10 points.
Teyon Harris scored 16 points and Louie Samonas had 12 to lead Campbell Memorial (3-3).
Trey Soares had eight rebounds and two assists.
Lakeview was 12-for-19 from the field in the first half, in building a 31-23 lead at the intermission.
Campbell, meanwhile, was just 9-of-31 in the second half, including 1-of-13 from 3-point range.
Warren JFK 49, Hubbard 46
HUBBARD -- Stephen Flanagan scored 15 points and Marc Rossi added 14 to lead Kennedy, which trailed 20-15 at halftime but rallied with a 14-3 advantage in the third quarter.
Flanagan scored all eight points for the Eagles in the first quarter.
Mark Kenitsky scored 12 points for Hubbard, while Danny Trolio added 11 and Todd Coonce scored 10.
Trolio scored nine of the Eagles' 20 points in the fourth quarter.
