Board decision lights up school
POLAND -- After more than 30 years, Poland Seminary High School's auditorium will soon be cast in a new light.
School board members approved at their meeting Monday a resolution to replace the high school's original master lighting control console and to repair much of the stage lighting in the auditorium. The board of education agreed to pay the full $24,900 cost of the lighting project up front. Within one to two years, the Poland Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence will reimburse the board for most or all of the cost, Superintendent Dr. Robert Zorn predicted.
Work will include adding various pieces of equipment such as new dimmer packs, digital lighting controls, a backstage control station, new wiring and a main control board.
The lighting project should be completed in time for the next school play, scheduled to be staged in February, Zorn said. The project will allow the worn-out original system, which was installed when the facility opened in 1971, to be replaced, Zorn noted.
