ROUNDUP Bate's 16 points leads LaBrae to overtime win
Cachet Murray led Girard to its sixth straight win with 20 points.
LEAVITTSBURG -- Laura Bate scored 16 points, leading LaBrae High to a 55-51 overtime victory over Liberty in a Trumbull Athletic Conference girls basketball game Monday night.
Maddie D'Orio and Angelica Pugh added 10 points each for the Vikings (6-1, 1-0 TAC). LaBrae trailed 17-9 after the first quarter, but rallied in the middle two quarters to lead 38-35.
Liberty outscored the Vikings 11-8 in the fourth period, but LaBrae took a 9-4 edge in the overtime.
Ashley White scored 25 points for the Leopards (3-3, 0-1).
Girard 42, Brookfield 37
GIRARD -- Cachet Murray scored 20 points and Jessica Bowser added 12 for Girard, which remained unbeaten.
Murray also had nine rebounds, five assists and eight steals for the Indians (6-0, 1-0 TAC).
Raquel Brenner led Brookfield (3-2, 0-1) with 13 points.
Champion 50, Newton Falls 33
NEWTON FALLS -- Jessica Wood scored 22 points and Elizabeth Ghindia added 17 for the Golden Flashes (3-1, 1-0 TAC).
Heather Pegg finished with 10 points for Champion, which led 20-18 at halftime.
Molly Lenarcic and Kortni Collins paced Newton Falls (0-5, 0-1) with nine points each.
Lakeview 59, Hubbard 50
HUBBARD -- Lindsay Whetzel got off to a fast start and finished with 20 points, leading Lakeview.
Whetzel scored 11 points in the first quarter, as the Bulldogs led 17-14 lead. Lakeview led 27-26 at halftime and 39-34 after three periods.
Chelsea Butler added 11 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, for Lakeview. Callie Oyler scored 10 points to lead Hubbard.
Mathews 56, Southington 29
VIENNA -- Tara Ford scored 19 points to lead Mathews.
Ford also had 12 rebounds for the Mustangs (4-1, 1-1 Northeast Athletic Conference).
Melanie Roscoe had 11 points and Sophie Paddock had seven blocked shots for Mathews.
Southington (1-3, 1-1) was led by Veronica Staba, with eight points.
Badger 62, Bloomfield 48
NORTH BLOOMFIELD -- Nikki Likens led Badger with 14 points, six assists and five rebounds.
Tessa Bonar also had 14 points, and five rebounds and six steals, for the Braves (2-5, 1-1 NAC). Samantha Bonar finished with 10 points.
Nicole Kovalak scored 17 points for Bloomfield, while Suzy Warren added 12.
