Cell-phone suspicion
GREENE -- A cellular phone left at the scene of a burned, new home led authorities to arrest a 20-year-old North Bloomfield man and charge him with arson.
Daniel Day of York Street made an initial appearance Monday before Judge Thomas Campbell of Central District Court in Cortland.
Day faces the arson charge filed by sheriff's deputies in the Saturday fire.
They report that the new Greene Township modular home owned by Ted Popvichok of Helsey Fusselman Road, Southington Township, had no gas or electric hooked up.
The fire was deemed suspicious by investigators.
Day was identified after his cell phone was found at the fire scene.
Day was in Trumbull County jail Monday and will return to court for arraignment Dec. 20.
