Another injury: The Steelers lost another starter to injury Sunday. Left outside linebacker Clark Haggans left with an ankle injury in the first quarter but backups James Harrison and Alonzo Jackson filled in capably. "People step up every week and that's what's been going on this whole season," Haggans said. "When one guy goes down, people step up." Coming home: Jets running back Curtis Martin had a below-average day against the Steelers' tough run defense, carrying 24 times for 72 yards with a long run of 13 yards. He caught three passes for 35 yards. Martin grew up in Pittsburgh and played for the University of Pittsburgh. Any trip home means he needs a lot of tickets and he welcomes the chance to return, even in his 10th NFL season. "It's the only time my friends and family get to see me play," Martin said. "There's something special to it. I just really wanted to win today."Getting better: Defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen said the Steelers don't wear down like most teams do over the course of a game. And he wasn't talking just about Bettis. "We get stronger at the end," he said. "That's just the conditioning and the work we did all year and with the kind of guys in this room, we won't ever break. We will get stronger and I don't think anybody can handle that for 60 minutes." The Steelers were coming off a physical game in Jacksonville last Sunday night, yet were ready for more contact in 30-degree temperatures Sunday.
