Board of control
The Youngstown Board of Control -- the mayor, finance director and law director -- met this week and handled these matters:
Approved payment of $10,590 in severance pay to firefighter Thomas M. Lochrane, who retired in November.
Approved the purchase of a replacement tape backup system for the city mainframe system for $11,000.
Approved the purchase of three snowplows from Concord Road Equipment for a total of $18,508.
Approved the payment of $16,188 to Columbus Equipment for repairs to an undercarriage on a demolition excavator.
Approved an agreement between the city and Ohio N.E. Health Systems Inc. for $25,000. Jay Williams, city Community Development Agency director, said the money will go toward a new project for the Youngstown Community Health Center on Wick Avenue.
Approved the award of phase two of McGuffey Heights drainage improvements to Foust Construction of Girard for its bid amount of $226,123. Carmen S. Conglose Jr., deputy director of Public Works said the project should begin in about 30 days.
Approved an adjustment to the contract for the 2004 sidewalk replacement program for Parella-Pannunzio of Youngstown for $17,011.
Approved an increase of $48,525 for work at the Youngstown Convocation Center being handled by A.P. O'Horo Co. of Youngstown. Conglose said the increase is for the cost to bring in special drilling equipment for the center's foundation.
Approved two change orders for Parella-Pannunzio for work on the Federal Street reopening project. One was for $54,381 for additional work the water department needed to have done by the contractor; the other was for $23,399 as an adjustment for various items used on the project, Conglose said.
