ATLANTA -- Luke Schenscher scored 15 points and No. 3 Georgia Tech overcame Air Force's slow-paced offense for a 64-42 victory Saturday.
The Yellow Jackets (6-0), who try to run at every opportunity, were forced into a game that was totally out of character. They attempted a season-low 40 shots and failed to make a 3-pointer for the first time since 1987.
But Georgia Tech still managed to dominate, leading 32-12 at halftime and holding the Falcons (6-3) to just under 28 percent (15-of-54) from the field.
The 7-foot-1 Schenscher towered over everyone, taking full advantage of the mismatch. He made 6 of 9 shots, had three blocks and grabbed eight rebounds, leading the Yellow Jackets to a commanding 35-22 edge on the boards.
Georgia Tech was averaging more than 63 shots per game. Air Force stretched out the shot clock on nearly every possession with its Princeton-style offense, but that merely kept the score from getting totally out of hand.
Georgia Tech attempted only two 3-pointers. The streak of 546 games with a 3-pointer was third longest in the NCAA, trailing only the current streaks of UNLV (574 entering Saturday) and Vanderbilt (573 entering Saturday).
No. 12 N.C. State 94, Liberty 60
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Julius Hodge had 27 points and finished an assist and a rebound short of the second triple-double of his career, leading No. 12 North Carolina State past Liberty.
Hodge, who had nine rebounds and nine assists, scored in double figures for the 23rd straight game. Freshman Andrew Brackman had a season-high 13 points for the Wolfpack (7-0), who matched their best start under ninth-year coach Herb Sendek.
No. 13 Louisville 74, Florida 70
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Taquan Dean scored 22 points, Francisco Garcia added 19 and No. 13 Louisville withstood a late rally to beat Florida.
Rick Pitino improved to 20-1 against former assistant coaches and players and extended his record to 6-0 against Billy Donovan.
Dean and Garcia helped stake the Cardinals (5-1) to a 12-point lead in the second half, but the Gators (5-2) came back and had several chances to move ahead late.
No. 15 Arizona 67, Utah 62
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Channing Frye scored 19 points despite foul trouble and Hassan Adams slammed home a rebound with 40 seconds to play, allowing 15th-ranked Arizona to escape with a victory.
The victory was the 1,000th for Lute Olson as a head coach in 47 years at the high school, junior college and major college level.
Chris Rodgers had six points and a crucial assist in the final 3:39, including four free throws in the last 25.2 seconds. His two from the line with 2.7 seconds to go sealed the victory.
Andrew Bogut, Utah's 7-foot Australian center, had 20 points and 10 rebounds on 8-for-10 shooting, but was scoreless after his rebound basket put the Utes up 56-51 with 5:41 remaining.
