BOYS BASKETBALL Youngstown Christian gets first victory of season, 57-41
Aaron Agresta led the Eagles with 16 points in the win over Warren Christian.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Aaron Agresta scored 16 points, leading Youngstown Christian to its first victory of the season, 57-41 over Warren Christian, Friday at the Youngstown Sports Arena.
Jared Van Arsdale added 10 points for the Eagles (1-3), while Anthony LaGamba scored nine.
Billy Powell led Warren Christian (2-2) with 12 points and Phil Jolly scored 11.
Maplewood 52, Mathews 46
CORTLAND -- Jake Abbott scored 16 points, while Dan Morrison had 12 points and six assists, to lead Maplewood.
Craig Clemson had nine rebounds for the Rockets (1-1), while Richie Plott had eight rebounds, and Dan McConnell added four assists.
Mathews (1-4) was led by Matt Weimer, with 17 points.
Crestview 46, East Palestine 40
EAST PALESTINE -- Andy Walton scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead Crestview.
Also for the Rebels (1-4, 1-1 Tri-County League), Jordan Reynolds scored 11 points and Mike Simmons had 10. Andrew Gates finished with four assists.
East Palestine (0-4, 0-2) was led by Brett Young with 20 points and Joe Thompson with 10 rebounds.
Sebring 53, Lisbon 25
LISBON -- Matt Ferguson led Sebring with 19 points.
Joe James added 17 points and Dan Scarpitti scored 14 for the Trojans (3-0, 2-0 TCL).
Marcus Judy paced Lisbon (2-2, 1-1) with nine points and three assists. Tim McClester added eight points and three rebounds, while Corey Smith had three steals.
Southern 48, United 47, OT
SALINEVILLE -- Josh Diaz had 30 points and 18 rebounds to lead Southern, which improved to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the TCL. Nick Puckett had four steals and three assists.
Tyler Boyle paced United (2-2, 1-1) with 14 points, while Ryan Adams had nine points and nine rebounds. Bubba Taylor finished with nine points and two steals, and Jake Roelen had seven points and nine rebounds.
Columbiana 48, Leetonia 46, OT
COLUMBIANA -- David Vitko scored 15 points for Columbiana, and Eric Bailey added 14.
Leetonia was by Corey Kramer, who scored 17.
Northwest 50, West Branch 44
CANAL FULTON -- Shane Young had 14 points and seven rebounds for West Branch (1-3, 0-2 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).
The Warriors trailed by 14 points in the first half, but rallied to take a five-point lead with 3 1/2 minutes remaining before Northwest came back.
Andy Pappas finished with 11 points for West Branch, while Brandon McMillan had eight points and five rebounds and Mike Fugate had eight assists and six steals.
Southeast 88, Crestwood 37
RAVENNA -- Pat Divocky poured in 19 points to lead Southeast, while Pat Nelson finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Micah Herndon scored 12 for the Pirates (4-0, 3-0 Portage County League).
Jeff Brock had 13 points for Crestwood (1-3, 1-2).
Lordstown 54, Bloomfield 28
LORDSTOWN -- Josh Lackey topped Lordstown with 14 points.
Brandon Wickline added 12 points and he had 12 of the Red Devils' 34 rebounds. Max Gibson had three assists and four steals for Lordstown (2-2, 1-0 Northeast Athletic Conference).
R.J. Gorman scored 12 points to lead Bloomfield (0-4, 0-1).
