YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State University will sponsor its third annual on-campus Pre-College Workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center on campus.
The workshop, designed for students in grades nine through 12 and parents, will focus on admissions, financial aid, pre-college testing, college prep courses, perspectives from current college students on what college life is like, residential hall living, social life, majors, etc.
Quotable
"Many parents think the ninth grade is too early to start preparing for college, until they attend one of our workshops," said Leon Stennis, YSU coordinator of diversity initiatives. "With the increasing complexity and cost of higher education today, most of the parents and students soon discover that it is never to early to start preparing for college."
Stennis, who is coordinating the workshop with the assistance from several offices on campus, said he is hoping that several hundred students and parents will attend the workshop. "If the student plans to go to college, he or she will benefit from this workshop," he added. "I also think the parents will benefit just as much."
For registration or additional information about the workshop, call (330) 941-3370.
