MAHONING COUNTY Sister hurt; 1 arrested
AUSTINTOWN -- A 17-year-old boy was arrested early Thursday after his 9-year-old sister was cut on the neck at their Shadow Oak Drive home.
The boy was taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, where authorities did not provide details on his possible charges and whether he would be held.
While responding at 4 a.m. to what appeared to be a burglary, police found the girl had three cuts on her neck after she said her brother had pushed her head down, making it hard for her to breath.
The boy denied his sister's accusations when confronted by his father, police said.
A detective said it had not been determined what had been used to cut the girl's neck.
Officers reported finding the father's coat with silverware, cell phones and a watch in it on the floor, indicating a burglary had been in progress.
But, even though a screen had been cut and a front window was open, there were no marks or dirt on the carpet to indicate anyone had entered the house from the outside, police said.
