AREA COLLEGE ROUNDUP Three-pointers start Bethany rout
Brandon Duncan tripled on the first three possessions of an easy victory.
BETHANY, W. Va. -- Brandon Duncan scored 3-pointers on Bethany's first three possessions to help the Bison to an 87-69 victory over Penn State-Altoona.
It was the fourth consecutive victory for Bethany (6-2), while Altoona remained winless (0-5).
Mike Drahos led Bethany with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Matt Drahos added 12 points and six rebounds. Jim Deep had 11 points, and Duncan finished with nine points, six assists and four steals.
Rasheed Bey led the Lions with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Geneva 100, Shawnee St. 96, 2 OT
PORTSMOUTH -- Stefan Grundberg scored 26 points and Mike Ross had 19, including seven in overtime, to lead Geneva (6-4).
Ross' 3-pointer with 1:20 remaining in the second overtime gave Geneva the lead for good.
Tim Sawyer scored 24 points for the Golden Tornadoes.
Terrance Davison had 26 points for Shawnee State (5-6).
Women
GAMBIER -- Jackie Tubo scored 12 points, but Allegheny fell to Kenyon 61-48.
Valery Medwid added nine points and four rebounds for the Gators (3-4, 0-3 North Coast Conference).
Kenyon's (6-1, 3-0) Hilary Gowins led all scorers with 13 points, while Katy Zeanah and Alisha Moreno each scored 11 points.
Grove City 68, Pitt-Bradford 57
BRADFORD, Pa. -- Four players scored in double figures as Grove City (5-2) is off to its best start since 2000-01. Sandy O'Keefe led Grove City with 15 points and eight rebounds, while freshman forward Rachel McCoy added 12 points and seven rebounds. Abby Moose continued to move closer to the 1,000-point mark for her career as she tossed in 13 points and added four assists and five steals. Moose now has 985 career points. Tammy Hess added 10 points. Brittany McLean led Pitt-Bradford with 10 points.
Pitt-Johnstown 70,Slippery Rock 55
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Melissa Patterson scored 22 points, and Jessica Zapf added 12 points and 16 rebounds, to lead Pitt-Johnstown (7-1).
Samantha Conner had 19 points, while Allison Krischer had 13 points and seven assists.
Slippery Rock (4-4) was led by Erin Frankovich, who scored 10 points; Stacey Green, who had eight points and eight rebounds, and Amber McFeely, who had eight points and six assists.
