CLEVELAND BROWNS Is Garcia steaming as he sits?
Rookie McCown was named starting QB Sunday over the veteran.
BEREA (AP) -- Jeff Garcia's right shoulder isn't the only thing strained for Cleveland's quarterback.
His relationship with the Browns doesn't appear to be much better.
Although Garcia is listed as probable on the injury report and interim coach Terry Robiskie says the QB is "90 percent healthy", rookie Luke McCown will make his second career start Sunday when the Browns face the Buffalo Bills.
Garcia was informed of the coaching staff's decision on Wednesday.
"We told him that we thought Luke went out this weekend [against New England] and did a pretty decent job," Robiskie said. "We wanted to give Luke another week. He [Jeff] said he was fine with it."
A history of discontent
Based on Garcia's previous comments, that's hard to believe.
Garcia, who injured his rotator cuff against the New York Jets last month, hasn't missed a chance to voice his opinion since joining the Browns. Since the exhibition season, Garcia has seemingly had a problem with one thing or another.
He complained that he didn't play enough during the preseason. He criticized the Browns' play calling under Robiskie, the team's offensive coordinator before taking over as head coach last week. Garcia also bemoaned the team's lack of discipline, calling out Browns guards for jumping offsides.
Robiskie said Garcia didn't come to the team's training facility on Tuesday for treatment on his shoulder, perhaps another sign of his discontent.
Garcia was not available for comment on Wednesday.
There is further reason to think Garcia may be at odds with the Browns.
During Robiskie's first team meeting after taking over for Butch Davis, he asked the team's leaders to stand and come to the front of the room. Curiously, in a video of the meeting which was shown on local television, Garcia remained seated while both McCown and Kelly Holcomb stood.
Robiskie was asked if he found that unusual.
"I don't have any reaction to it at all," Robiskie said. "When I came into the meeting, I expected four or five guys to stand up and I was totally shocked when I looked up and saw 22 guys standing. It floored me."
Earlier this season, McCown drove to Buffalo to see his brother, Josh, play against the Bills. On Sunday, he'll face them himself.
Nice moments
McCown had some nice moments last week when he passed for 277 yards and two touchdowns against the Patriots. There were a few he'd like back, too.
"I had three or four sacks and two of them for sure were on me," he said. "I scrambled out and the protection wasn't that bad. So I just need to quiet my feet, settle down and make throws."
McCown was surprised the Browns decided to start him again this week, but he's grateful for the opportunity since he won't be the only McCown under center on Sunday. Josh was reinserted as Arizona's starter earlier this week.
"It's going to be a big week in the McCown family," he said.
