Austintown Fitch defeats Liberty
LIBERTY -- Krista Mays had 11 points and 16 rebounds, leading Austintown Fitch High to a 47-36 victory over Liberty in a girls basketball game on Wednesday night.
Alexis Hall led the Falcons (3-3) with 16 points, and Emily Woodall scored 10.
The score was tied 31-31 after three quarters, but Fitch's defense held the Leopards without a basket in the fourth period, out-scoring them 16-5.
Ashley White finished with 19 points for Liberty (2-2), and Katarine Neskovich had 11 rebounds.
Howland 73, Poland 26
HOWLAND -- Carolyn Hanshaw of Howland outscored Poland, leading the Tigers in the Metro Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Hanshaw finished with 29 points, as Howland improved to 4-1 overall. Ellie Shields had 10 points, while Ana Cvengros had five rebounds and Melissa Airhart had seven assists.
Poland (0-2, 0-1) was led by Dee Muransky, who scored eight points, and Ashley Shuluga, who had five rebounds.
Howland, which held a 30-15 edge in rebounds, led 28-7 after the first quarter.
Warren Harding 51, Madison 41
WARREN -- Desirae Jenkins and LaBrea Crawford scored 15 points apiece for Warren Harding, which led 27-16 at halftime.
Janine McDonald finished with 11 points for the Raiders.
Madison was led by Miranda Boggs, who scored 11 points.
