AREA COLLEGE ROUNDUP Geneva piles up the points in big win
Freshman Zac Northern led the way in a rout of Penn State-Beaver by 79.
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Freshman Zac Northern scored 19 points to lead Geneva College to a 128-49 rout of Penn State-Beaver Tuesday night.
Northern was 8-for-10 shooting from the field.
Stefan Grundberg added 15 points and a team-high 10 rebounds, while freshman Greg McDivitt had 13 points for Geneva (6-4).
Geneva's Nate Conley finished with seven points, five rebounds and nine assists.
Penn State-Beaver (2-9) was led by Raymont Edwards' 14 points. Paul Passerrello also hit double figures with 12 points.
Bethany 87, Hood 78
FREDERICK, Md. -- Mike and Matt Drahos combined for 49 points and 16 rebounds to lead Bethany (5-2) to its fourth straight win.
Hood (5-3) got a school record 44 points by Santo Provenzano, who was 17-for-20 from the field.
Mike Drahos led Bethany with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Matt Drahos had 18 points and eight rebounds. Chris Stephens had a career-high 16 points and also five rebounds, and Brandon Duncan had 15 points.
Carnegie Mellon 82, Hiram 49
PITTSBURGH -- Carlton Dean scored 17 points and T.C. Spencer had 10 in a losing cause for the Terriers (2-5).
DaJuan Whiteside had 10 rebounds for Hiram.
Carnegie Mellon (5-2) got 17 points from Greg Gonzlaez and 12 points each from Nate Maurer, Michael Divens and A.J. Straub.
Women
SPRINGFIELD -- Wittenberg went on an 11-0 run midway though the first half to take control of the game in a 72-41 victory over Bethany.
Jenny Place led Bethany (2-5) with 12 points and tied for the team lead with seven rebounds, along with Lisa Mitchell.
Katie Hittle led Wittenberg (2-4) with 14 points.
