GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Thiel's Damien Williams finished with 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Tomcats. Daryl Moore scored 14 points and had four rebounds, four assists and four steals, while Joe Herrmann added 13 points and four rebounds. Rasheed Bey paced Penn State Altoona with 17 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Ethan Stewart-Smith added 11 points. The Lions (0-4) jumped out to a 23-10 lead midway through the opening half before Thiel closed out the half on a 17-6 to close the gap to two (29-27) going into the break. A Williams' 3-pointer with 14:38 remaining put Thiel up by two (37-35). After a 39-39 tie, Thiel rattled off 10 straight points to extend its lead to 10 (49-39) at the 11:22 mark of the second half.
WOMEN
Westminster 60, Wooster 56
WOOSTER -- Westminster posted its second consecutive win, improving to 5-2. Wooster is 2-3. Erica Tallo led Westminster with 17 points, giving her 996 for her career. Desiree Sterling added 15 points, while Alyson Gasper posted 12 rebounds and five assists. The Titans jumped out to a quick 11-6 lead less than five minutes into the game, only to see the Scots put together a 17-4 run to take an eight-point lead (23-15) with six minutes to play in the opening half. Trailing 27-19, Westminster closed the half with a 9-0 run to take a 28-27 halftime lead. The Titans then opened the second half with a 12-2 run to take a 40-29 lead with 15:13 to play. Wooster rallied late, retaking the lead at 53-52 with 4:34 to play. However, the Titans re-took the lead for good on a pair of free throws by Sterling (Newton Falls) at 54-53 with 4:16 left, as Westminster would outscore Wooster 6-3 in the closing minutes.
Pitt-Johnstown 72, Geneva 65
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- Geneva had its four-game winning streak snapped by Pitt-Johnstown, 72-65. Geneva (5-2) was led by Ali Cananzi with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. Kylee Kittner added 12 points and Megan Gallagher had 11 points. The team's leading scorer this season, Jen Rawding, was held to eight points on 4-of-8 shooting. The Golden Tornadoes was just 47 percent (7-for-15) at the foul line. Pitt-Johnstown (6-1) was led by Melissa Patterson with 23 points.
