MAHONING COUNTY Local superintendent named a top administrator

Craig served as a Youngstown high school principal and a teacher at YSU.
CANFIELD -- The Ohio Career Education Association named Dr. Roan Craig, superintendent of Mahoning County Career & amp; Technical Center, the 2004 recipient of its Outstanding School Administrator Award at the group's 26th annual conference in Columbus.
Dr. Marie Pavlicko, supervisor of the Mahoning County Career Development Program, nominated Craig for her role as a catalyst for career development in the county.
"She is truly a dedicated and informed administrator who knows the importance of providing career development services for all students," Pavlicko said.
Craig provided the initiative for the MCCTC High Schools That Work program, including an outreach component for partnerships with participating districts.
The adviser-advisee program is now fully implemented and continues to serve as the model for local schools to use in their curriculum.
In her leadership role as superintendent, Craig continues to promote all phases of career development with local administrators and supports the outreach programs to keep the staff and students in the county involved in career development activities in their schools and local communities.

She also served Youngstown City Schools for three years as coordinator of financial aid and customized skill training for the school district's adult and technical education programs.
Before moving to the Youngstown school system, Craig was employed by MCCTC, then known as Mahoning County Joint Vocational School, as a coordinator in the adult education department and served as a business office education instructor. She also taught in the business education department at YSU.
