OUTSTANDING WARRANTS Crime suspect arrested by marshals in Columbus
The man had threatened to shoot any officer who tried to arrest him, authorities said.
YOUNGSTOWN -- U.S. marshals have arrested a man in Columbus wanted in numerous crimes in Mahoning County.
Marshals caught Jermaine Bunn crawling out of a window of a home early Thursday, said Dean Michael, task force coordinator of Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. Bunn lists a Columbus address, but he had made many trips to Mahoning County, mainly to commit crimes, Michael said.
Michael said the task force received a tip that Bunn, 28, was in the Columbus area. The information was then sent to the marshals office in Columbus.
Michael said the task force has been looking for Bunn for some time. He has outstanding warrants in Mahoning County on charges of carrying a concealed weapon and illegally possessing weapons.
He failed to appear in a Mahoning County court on those charges Nov. 9, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Michael said the task force considered Bunn considerably dangerous because he had said he would shoot any police officer who attempted to arrest him.
Bunn also violated his federal probation for carrying a concealed weapon, and a federal court issued another warrant for his arrest Nov. 23, Michael said.
Michael said Bunn has a lengthy criminal history for violent crimes going back to 1995. Those crimes include kidnapping, robbery, rape, aggravated murder, aggravated trafficking in marijuana and felonious assault.
Bunn is in the Columbus jail and will appear before a federal magistrate in that city. He then will be returned to Mahoning County to answer charges against him.
