Mississippi St. cruises past South Alabama
Lawrence Roberts scored 19 points; Michigan State women upset Notre Dame.

STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Lawrence Roberts had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead No. 15 Mississippi State to a 66-52 victory over South Alabama on Thursday night.
Shane Power added 16 points for the Bulldogs (6-1), who took control by opening the second half with a 16-4 run. Mississippi State shook off an eight-day layoff and won its third straight since losing to Syracuse two weeks ago.
Mario Jointer led South Alabama (2-3) with 15 points.
Roberts, a preseason All-American and last season's Southeastern Conference player of the year, scored 14 of his points in the second half. The game was a good tuneup for the Bulldogs, who play No. 21 Arizona in the Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Calif., on Sunday.
South Alabama, which trailed by 16 with 6:23 remaining, got no closer than nine the rest of the way and had just two points in the final 3:58.
Women
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Monique Currie scored 20 points and No. 10 Duke upset fourth-ranked Tennessee 59-57, becoming only the seventh team in 17 years to beat the Lady Vols in Thompson-Boling Arena.
Mistie Williams added 14 points and Jessica Foley had 11 for the Blue Devils (6-1).
Shanna Zolman led Tennessee with 19 points, including 17 after halftime. Shyra Ely finished with 15 points and eight rebounds.
No. 15 Michigan St. 82,No. 3 Notre Dame 73
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Lindsay Bowen scored 23 points to help snap Notre Dame's 25-game home winning streak.
Teresa Borton tied the game at 73 with 2:11 left at overtime, but the Spartans finished on a 9-0 run.
Kristin Haynie finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for the Spartans (5-1). Roehrig had 14 points and Liz Shimek had nine points and 13 rebounds.
Crystal Erwin scored a career-high 20 points for the Irish. Megan Duffy had 19 points and Jacqueline Batteast scored 16.
No. 2 North Carolina 96,Tennessee-Martin 36
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- La'Tangela Atkinson scored 13 points and was perfect from the floor and LaToya Pringle had 16 points to lead North Carolina (7-0) to its best start since 1996-97.
Ivory Latta led the Tar Heel starters with 15 points and five assists. Nikita Bell added 12 and Erlana Larkins had 10 points for North Carolina.
No. 18 Minnesota 86, Detroit 34
MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota allowed the fewest points and posted the largest margin of victory since the school entered the NCAA in 1981-82. Janel McCarville had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead Minnesota.
Kelly Roysland tied a career-high with 16 points and Jamie Broback had 14 for the Gophers.
Lindsey Pasquinzo had 10 points for Detroit (1-3).

RUSTON, La. -- Shan Moore had a career-high 20 points to lead Louisiana Tech.
Crystal Kelly led Western Kentucky (2-3) with 29 points and 13 rebounds.
No. 23 Texas Christian 85,Southern Methodist 65
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Sandora Irvin scored 24 points and Natasha Lacy had 18 to lead Texas Christian.
