MUNCIE, Ind. -- Peyton Stovall scored 22 points, with five rebounds and five assists to lead Ball State to a 61-54 victory over Wright State Wednesday night.
Stovall was one of three Cardinals in double figures. Chapman also led Ball State with eight rebounds.
DaShaun Wood led the Raiders with 20 points, adding seven rebounds and three assists. He also was 6-for-6 in free throws, although as a team the Raiders shot 70 percent on foul shots.
Ball State (2-1) led the whole game, including 27-19 at halftime. Wright State (3-2) did outscore the Cardinals 35-34 in the second half, but never was able to catch up.
W. Michigan 64, Detroit Mercy 48
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Ben Reed scored a game-high 18 points, half of them on 3-pointers, to lead Western Michigan to a 64-48 victory over Detroit Mercy on Wednesday night for its 21st consecutive home win.
Point guard Rickey Willis tied a career high by scoring 10 points for Western (3-2), which has not lost at home since January 2003 and has the nation's fourth-longest home winning streak. Willis added a game-high six assists. Ryvon Covile led Detroit (1-3) with 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
Wis.-Milwaukee 89,S. Dakota St. 54
MILWAUKEE -- Ed McCants scored 19 points and Boo Davis added 18 Wednesday night as Wisconsin-Milwaukee beat South Dakota State 89-54.
Adrian Tigert added 13 points and Joah Tucker and Chris Hill 11 apiece for Milwaukee, which improved to 4-0 for the first time since the 1992-93 season when the school won its first eight games.
South Dakota (1-4), which this season moved up from NCAA Division II to Division I, was led by Luke Geiver with 14 points and Steve Holdren with 13.
Oral Roberts 48, Loyola 44
TULSA, Okla. -- Caleb Green scored 12 of his game-high 17 points in the second half, including the tiebreaking basket with 1:41 left, to lead Oral Roberts past Loyola (Ill.) 48-44 on Wednesday night.
Luke Spencer-Gardner sank two free throws with 71/2 seconds remaining to clinch the victory for the Golden Eagles (4-0).
