Does George McKelvey really think he's fooling anybody?

Does George McKelvey reallythink he's fooling anybody?
EDITOR:
I can't believe that George McKelvey can keep a straight face when he states he has not been given or offered anything for his support of George Bush for re-election.
I'm sure he's on a real ego trip with all the exposure on TV and the newspapers.
He has shown the citizens of Youngstown just how much he cares about the jobless plight here. His defense is that he is supporting Bush so he can persuade him save our Air Force base in Vienna.
Bush has done nothing for our area in four years, and I doubt he'll do anything if he's re-elected. McKelvey stated that he doesn't trust Kerry. Bush is known to double talk, and yet he trusts him?
Isn't it sad that he would reject the entire Democratic Party for a handshake, pat on the back and an invitation to dinner at the White House?
He claims the economy is on the rise, but the day before he announced his support for Bush, The Vindicator reported that Youngstown had one of the highest rates of unemployment in Ohio.
Is he blind, deaf and dumb, or does he think Youngstowners are that naive or just complete idiots?
I pray that his support of Bush backfires and Kerry wins the election. If his strategy works and Bush is re-elected, all I can say is God help us and the entire country.

If only more Democratsshowed the mayor's courage
EDITOR:
As a Youngstown resident, a voter and one of those who voted for George McKelvey twice for mayor of Youngstown, I do not always agree with him on policy issues as they relate to the black community and a true vision for the city.
As a Youngstown resident and voter, I truly respect and applaud McKelvey for his conscience and his true conviction in endorsing George W. Bush for president. This is still America, and McKelvey has that constitutional right, just like any other American in the Mahoning Valley -- including all those now whining Mahoning County Democratic Party officials and their political establishment.
I believe if more Mahoning County Democrats had some courage, some guts, a conscience, some conviction and a little outrage in truly standing up to the Mahoning County Democratic Party, Chairwoman Lisa Antonini, and their political and union establishment, the black community and all of Mahoning County would be better off.
McKelvey did not leave the Mahoning County Democratic Party. The arrogance of the Mahoning County Democratic Party and Antonini left McKelvey and the black community behind.

Desecration of Old Gloryshould not be tolerated
EDITOR:
There was a story in The Vindicator with pictures of a flag that was desecrated. This World War II veteran who owned the flag was very sad, as I am.
There are those who want to paint things like KKK and deface our great flag. I am also a World War II veteran and 80 years old. We fought for this flag, Old Glory.
Since this country was founded, we, the people of the United States, have fought to protect our rights and to be able to say the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. Our soldiers are dying every day in Iraq.
The cemeteries are loaded with those who died for our flag. Our very own representatives did not care enough to protect our flag.
If you do not like our country, then get out. You should be deported.
Fly our flag high, be a proud and respectful citizen.
