Shirilla 50th is celebrated at dinner party

XRIVERSIDE, Calif. -- Mr. and Mrs. John Shirilla of Riverside celebrated their golden wedding anniversary July 31 during a dinner party held at the Indian Hills Golf Club, where they have been active members for many years.
Hosts for the event were their daughters, Kathleen Clinnin and Valerie Roberts; their son, John Jay Shirilla; and their four grandchildren. All are of California.
The former Vivian Sciortino of Youngstown and Mr. Shirilla, who lived in Campbell, were united in marriage July 31, 1954, at St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, Campbell.
Mr. Shirilla completed undergraduate studies at Youngstown College and graduate studies at Pittsburgh University. He taught high school at Weathersfield Township for five years before moving to Riverside, where he taught 31 years in the business education department at Ramona High School prior to retiring in 1989.
Mrs. Shirilla is a homemaker.
