PREP VOLLEYBALL Canfield captures pair in opening triangular

Girard beat Boardman, but fell to the Cardinals.
CANFIELD -- The Canfield High volleyball team rallied to beat Girard 10-25, 25-21, 25-12 in the deciding match of an opening-day triangular at Canfield High School.
For Canfield, Kelly Reese had 21 assists, 10 points and four aces, while Stephanie Jarvis had nine kills, Natasha Kassim had eight kills and three blocks, Jackie Nentwick had seven kills and Kerrie Haurin had eight digs and three blocks.
For Girard, Elise Roscoe had 11 points, Erin Stevens had 23 assists, Brittany Kay had eight digs and Courtney Maddes added 15 kills.
Canfield 25-25, Boardman 20-21
For Canfield, Jarvis had eight kills and seven digs, while Reese had seven points and Kelsey Owen had eight digs, nine assists and two aces.
For Boardman, Amy Pawlosky had seven points and three kills and Ali Sfara added three kills and five digs.
Girard 25-25, Boardman 23-20
For Girard, Maddes had 13 points, four aces and two blocks and Chelsea Morrison had eight kills. For Boardman, Katie Spatara had 11 points and 12 assists and April Melquist had six kills and three blocks.
W. Reserve 13-25-25-26, Columbiana 25-13-18-24
BERLIN CENTER -- For Western Reserve (1-0), Sara Kucsko had 14 kills and eight blocks, Andrea Martin 18 points, three aces and 10 digs and Tekla Toman eight kills and five points. For Columbiana, Cara Hardenbrook had 20 kills and 18 digs.
Howland 14-25-25-15-15, Columbiana 25-16-22-25-11
COLUMBIANA -- Jaime Kelly had 21 kills, eight blocks and four aces, while Brittany Kelly added 29 assists and 11 points to lead Howland (3-0).
For Columbiana, Hardenbrook had 25 kills, 19 digs and eight points, while Crittenden added 15 kills, six blocks, nine points and five aces and Brandi Snavely had 45 assists and 12 points.
Howland 25-25, Struthers 19-19
HOWLAND -- Jaime Kelly had three points, 11 kills, two blocks, two digs and one save for the Tigers. Taylor Summerfield added 12 points, five aces, seven kills and five assists. Brittany Kelly also had two points, two kills, 18 assists and three saves.
Howland 25-25, Liberty 23-17
HOWLAND -- Jaime Kelly three points, 11 kills, one block, one dig and one save for Howland. Brittany Kelly added two points, four kills, 16 assists, one dig and two saves. Summerfield had eight points, three aces, five kills, three assists, one dig and one save.
For Liberty, Emily Hall had 10 assists and Amy Markowitz five kills and two blocks.
Liberty 25-25, Struthers 14-21
HOWLAND -- Kelsey O'Donnell had eight kills and four digs for the Leopards, while Hall had 11 assists and Jessica Szakacs eight assists. For Struthers, Nicole Robenolt had five kills and Brianne Ciccone two blocks.
