Mom's garage bands rock their socks off

Are you a tired, overworked, stay-at-home mom harboring a bit of angst? Are you fed up with household duties and want to vent?
Start a band.
Garage bands featuring moms belting irreverent songs such as "Pick Up Your Socks" and "Vasectomy" are turning up in suburbs across the country, the Wall Street Journal reports. Moms are taking up guitar, drums and microphones in such diverse cities as Dallas, Detroit, San Francisco and Westchester County, N.Y.
The groups have names such as Frump, Housewives on Prozac and MotherLode Trio. Members of San Francisco's Placenta raise their voices against deadbeat dads.
The Journal says the bands even had their own three-day arts festival in New York called Mamapalooza. The Mydols toured recently with a Norwegian girl band called the Launderettes. Candy Band, which is big with crowds in Detroit biker bars, has been getting some satellite radio play with its song "Ken Lost His Head," a ditty about Ken and Barbie.
The new outlets have solved the question for some moms about whether they'll go back to work. Psychologists say that full-time mothers need more stimulation. And while middle-age men have often added music as a mid-life outlet, moms have been busy with PTA and carpools.
What do the kids think? One young woman told the Journal she is embarrassed only when her mom starts to dance.
