Kohl anniversary is celebrated at Mass, reception



XAUSTINTOWN -- Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kohl Sr., 33 Kleber Ave., observed their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their nuptial vows Aug. 28 during a Mass at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, where they are members.
Afterward they were honored during a reception at Theodore's Banquet Centre, Mineral Ridge.
Hosts for the festivities were the couple's children and their spouses, Edward Jr. and Pam Kohl of Austintown, Ronald Kohl of Austintown, Gary and Mary Kohl of Mentor, and Karen Markovich of Canfield. Completing the family are eight granddaughters and one step-grandson.
The couple were united in marriage Aug. 28, 1954, at St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, Youngstown.
Mrs. Kohl, the former Rose Grace, is a retired beautician. She had worked at Lowe's Beauty Shop and Dolly's House of Charm, both formerly in Youngstown. She is a past president of Kent State Mothers Club and of Davis Elementary School PTA.
Mr. Kohl is a Korean War veteran having served from 1951 to 1953. He retired in 1973 as a machinist from Makenzie Muffler in Youngstown and in 1998 from the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he was a clerk.
The couple took a cruise to Nova Scotia in June as a prelude to the Aug. 28 celebration.
