HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL Harding wins debut by 21-6 over Dunbar



Jon Richardson and Roger Matlock keyed the Raiders over the Washington, D.C. team.
WARREN -- Warren Harding running back Jon Richardson rushed 19 times for 106 yards and a touchdown for the Raiders, who dropped Washington (D.C.) Dunbar 21-6 in a high school football game Saturday at Mollenkopf Stadium.
Harding quarterback Roger Matlock hit on 6 of 10 passes for 65 yards and a touchdown, hitting Corey Stringer for a short TD pass to make it 15-0 in the second quarter.
After Dunbar scored, Harding's Dan Herron capped the scoring with a fourth quarter touchdown run. Herron finished with 34 yards on 10 carries.
Salem 30, Marlington 7
MARLINGTON -- Grant Sevek rushed 17 times for 92 yards and had touchdown runs of 5 and 49 yards for the Quakers, who took a 27-7 lead in the second quarter.
Also for Salem, Mark Kolich ran 10 times for 51 yards and hit on 9 of 15 passes for 188 yards.
Jarin Heath pulled in seven passes for 127 yards and touchdown receptions of 37 and 15 yards from Kolich.
Louisville 27, Poland 13
LOUISVILLE -- Quarterback Mark Gulling threw two touchdown passes to Drew Kuhn and Gulling also ran for a touchdown, as Louisville held Poland to only four first downs.
Poland trailed by only 14-10 after three quarters, but Gulling hit Kuhn with a 30-yard scoring strike. Gulling then raced eight yards to a score as Louisville pulled away to seal the verdict.
Gulling also connected to Kuhn on a 56-yard TD toss in the second quarter. He finished with 175 yards in the air on 8-for-19 passes and added 64 yards rushing in nine carries. Kuhn had four catches for 137 yards.
Brian Whaley scored Louisville's first TD on a 14-yard run in the first quarter.
Poland battled back to take a 10-7 lead in the second quarter on Fred Romeo's 30-yard field goal and Luke Blangero's 12-yard pass interception and Romeo's placement.
Romeo added a 35-yard field goal in the third quarter.
Eric Scott led Louisville's rushing attack with 73 yards on 17 carries. Louisville finished with 185 yards rushing and 17 first downs.
Poland quarterback Dom Marchionda passed for 49 yards on 4-for-13 passes, while Jim Shurilla rushed for 47 yards on 19 carries.
Poland managed only 27 net yards rushing.
Beaver Local 29, Akron East 3
LISBON -- Steve Mercer ran six times for 65 yards and two touchdowns to lead Beaver Local.
Josh Weese added 58 yards rushing, including a 23-yard touchdown run on Saturday's first play. Beaver Local had a 7-0 lead with 3:10 left in the second quarter when play was halted on Friday.
Jimmy Bowersock led the Beavers with 10 rushes for 72 yards.
