Goodman 50th is celebrated at open house

XCANFIELD -- The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Goodman, 30 Dartmouth Drive, was observed during an open house reception held Aug. 7 at Old North Church of Canfield.
Hosts for the event were the couple's daughters and their husbands, Donna and Kenneth Moore of Blue Springs, Mo., Kathy and Roland Mohler, Bats City, Mo., and Cheri Cruickshank, Independence, Mo.; Mrs. Goodman's sister and her husband, Lois and Leland White of Poland; and the honorees' nephew and his wife, Darrell and Vicki White of Aurora, Ill. Two of the Goodman's seven grandchildren were present.
In addition to the reception, the Goodmans celebrated their anniversary by taking a bus trip to Maine.
The former Dorothy Franklin and Mr. Goodman were married Aug. 26, 1954, in a ceremony officiated by Mrs. Goodman's father, Elder George Franklin, at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ in Youngstown.
The Goodman's are members of the Old North Church, where they serve as leaders of the Golden Heirs, and volunteer at Operation Blessing in Canfield.
Mr. Goodman served with the U.S. Air Force from August 1951 to July 1955 at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. Afterward he earned a bachelor's degree in accounting at Ohio State University, Columbus, and became a certified public accountant in 1965. He was an accountant with Ernst & amp; Ernst, Hill Barth & amp; King and AFC Corp. in Canfield. He retired in 1993 from Bliss-Salem of Salem and continued to serve as a consultant until 2000.
Mrs. Goodman earned a bachelor's degree in education at Youngstown College and taught first grade for three years in Girard, San Antonio and Columbus.
