Chorale celebrates milestones



SHARON, Pa. -- This fall marks the 10th anniversary for Shenango Valley Chorale's director but the first season for its accompanist.
Edgar S. Groves is the chorale's fourth music director in its history. He teaches music methods as a visiting professor at Grove City College in Grove City, Pa., where he also supervises student teachers.
The new accompanist is Tina Greig of Mercer, Pa., who was interim accompanist last spring. Cynthia Brea Ward of Sharpsville, Pa., has resigned after 20 years with the chorale. Greig has taught vocal music in public schools in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. She is a middle school counselor and student assistance coordinator in the Mercer school district.
Groves, Greig and the chorale will perform Oct. 3 at the annual Gymnatha Ganu Welsh Song Fest at McKinley Memorial in Niles.
The chorale's annual presentation of Handel's "Messiah" will be at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at First Presbyterian Church, Sharon. The group's Madrigal Singers will perform in "An Olde English Feaste" from Dec. 2-5 at Tara, A Country Inn in Clark, Pa.; call (724) 347-2294 for reservations. Annual Christmas concerts will be Dec. 10 at Westminster College Wallace Chapel in New Wilmington, Pa., and Dec. 11 at First Presbyterian Church, Sharon.
