This and that from the world of Valley politics.
IT'S HIS FAULT: Apparently John Edwards brings me nothing but bad luck.
When he came to the Mahoning Valley in February, I ended up at the emergency room later that night. When he returned Wednesday, the brake line on my car snapped as I drove to cover his rally in Warren. It's quite the adventure driving with no brakes. Even though I had to wait about 45 minutes for a tow truck to take my car from Warren to Austintown for the line to be replaced, I was still very early for the rally.
I got to the event an hour before it was supposed to start. No problem. Edwards was 30 minutes late, and after a bathroom break and shaking hands, he took the stage 15 minutes later.
Edwards' speech reminded me of buckshot; it was all over the place. One minute he's talking about health care and then it's veterans issues and then on to the war record of John Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee, and then the economy. He did this all in 22 minutes.
I don't think he was absolutely positive where he was because he never mentioned Warren or Trumbull County during his speech.
I was treated quite nicely by Edwards' press people on an unbelievably hot day. They provided me with two bottles of water, one warm that ended up getting real hot the longer I had it, and the other one ice cold.
