Sixth Street extension to be one way during McDonald school hours, sporting events

McDONALD -- The completed extension of Sixth Street to McDonald Avenue is to be used only as a one-way street during school hours when classes resume here Monday.
Schools Superintendent Michel Wasser said the street will be open one way during school hours, running east to west, from the high school to McDonald Avenue from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The street will also be one way during all sporting events.
"Please remember that our students' safety is our No. 1 priority," he said.
The village project to pave Sixth Street from where it dead-ends off Iowa Avenue at the high school football field to McDonald Avenue has been completed. The street is expected to open at 8 a.m. Friday, Wasser said.
Wasser said the village extended the street, which has dead-ended at the side of the high school for years, to allow emergency access to Dakota and Utah Avenues, which had previously also dead-ended at Sixth Street.
The village now has safety access there.
The street runs through the village from Pennsylvania Avenue to McDonald Avenue.
