FREE PROGRAM Fair offers enrollment for Head Start preschool

The enrollment fair is Friday at the McGuffey Mall.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Parents of qualifying children ages up to 5 years old can enroll them this week in fall classes at Head Start's Free Preschool program.
The Head Start Free Preschool Enrollment Fair will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Program Learning Center in the McGuffey Mall.
Qualifying children who enroll at the fair can receive free health screenings -- including physical and dental exams, immunizations and lead testing -- as well as free speech and hearing screenings. Parents of qualifying children can also register to win computers and school supplies.
Parents who plan to enroll their child at the fair should bring photo IDs, their Social Security cards, a medical or insurance card and income documentation, along with their child's birth certificate and shot records.
The Head Start Free Preschool is designed to improve early childhood development by providing quality educational activities. Participating children receive free medical and dental screenings, are served healthy meals and snacks each day, and enjoy indoor and outdoor play in a safe setting.
