Shobel honored
Daniel William Shobel, son of Mary Beth and Darrell Shobel of Boardman, recently received his Eagle Scout award at a court of honor ceremony at Boardman United Methodist Church.
He has been a Boy Scout with Troop 46 since 1997. His scoutmaster is Eric Grabman.
Shobel earned 31 merit badges and is a member of the Order of the Arrow, Wapashuwi Lodge 56. He has served as senior patrol leader and assistant senior patrol leader.
His Eagle service project involved refacing and landscaping a historical marker that indicates the southeastern-most point of the original Connecticut Western Reserve. It is located on Stateline Road near BFI Landfill in Poland Township.
A senior at Boardman High School, Shobel is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, student council, student leadership team and Council for Exceptional Students and is a soccer letterman and a percussionist for the high school. He also is the light board technician for school performances. He is a member of St. Charles Church, Boardman.
Kemble earns Eagle award
Timothy Kemble, son of William and Alva May Kemble of Howland, received his Eagle Scout award at a court of honor ceremony at the Warren Elks Lodge 295.
He is a member of Greater Western Reserve Council Boy Scout Troop 101. Jim Potjunas is scoutmaster.
Kemble joined Troop 101 in 1997 after earning his Arrow of Light with Cub Pack 122. In Troop 101, he had leadership positions of patrol leader, librarian, chaplain's aide, historian and quartermaster. He earned a total of 27 merit badges.
For his Eagle service project, he organized and directed the construction of a soccer practice wall at Howland Township Park.
Kemble graduated from Howland High School and will be attending Marietta College this fall, where he is pursuing studies in political science and business.
