Pay attention, I-80 speeders: Patrol's watching

Pennsylvania State Police are giving fair warning -- patrol units will be cracking down on speeders along Interstate 80 in Mercer County.
The crackdown will run through Sept. 30.
A spokesman said that a section of I-80 was selected because of the high number of accidents in that area.
The police aren't saying exactly where or when the "Selective Traffic Enforcement Program" patrol units will be on the road.
That section of highway is undergoing some repair work and traffic flow is restricted on some of the 25-mile stretch.
Traffic fines are double in construction areas.
Tours and tales
If you're looking for something to do to pass those long winter months, the Mercer County Historical Society is looking for you.
The organization needs volunteers to serve as tour directors for its museum facilities at 119 S. Pitt St. in Mercer.
The society wants someone who can offer information and stories to visitors to make their trip more enjoyable and that will require the volunteers to do some research on displays.
Volunteers will be trained on current displays and get a chance to help design and build displays.
Interested people should call the society at (724) 662-3490.
The society is also looking for volunteers to do gardening, transcription, display maintenance, research and microfilming.
