Minority Business Fair to be held in Columbus
COLUMBUS -- Minority businesses will get the chance to meet with some officials responsible for awarding contracts for Ohio state agencies at a Minority Business Fair set for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rhodes Building on the Ohio State Fairgrounds in Columbus. Businesses that qualify can register for minority-business status or disadvantaged-business status at the event. Representatives from the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Dept. of Administrative Services will be available to discuss future contract opportunities. Ohio's unemployment raterises slightly in July
Ohio's unemployment rate was 5.9 percent in July, up slightly from 5.8 percent in June, according to data released Friday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Locally, Mahoning County's jobless rate was 8.1 percent in July, up from 7.7 percent the previous month; Trumbull's rate was 9.8 percent, up from 7.1 percent in June; Columbiana had a 7.2 percent jobless rate, down from 8 percent in June.
Youngstown had a 14 percent jobless rate, the highest of Ohio's larger cities, up from 13.4 percent in June. The city's unemployment rate was 14.1 percent in July 2003.
