Elderly man stuck in tree rescued after 10-hours

THOMPSON, Ohio (AP) -- A man in his 80s with a badly broken leg was stuck hanging upside down in a tree for 10 hours before neighbors rescued him.
Albert Rankel was trimming branches on his northeast Ohio property Sunday when he fell and got stuck in a limb. He hung screaming for help for hours.
A family that lives about a half-mile away heard faint cries about 8:30 p.m.
Michelle Cambier, her husband, Kevin, and her 13-year-old son, Justin Dynes, followed the noise through the woods until they found Rankel a half-hour later.
Mrs. Cambier said Rankel appeared to be going into shock when they called 911.
"It was total fate we heard him and that he could still make noises so we could find him," she said.
Rankel was in stable condition Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown. His exact age wasn't available. Thompson is about 45 miles east of Cleveland in Geauga County.
