BOXING Local professional eyes bout in Chester
Youngstown's Durrell Richardson will fight a six-rounder at Mountaineer.
CHESTER, W.Va. -- Promoter Greg Nixon and World Class Promotions is presenting an eight-bout professional boxing card Thursday at Mountaineer Race Track and Gaming Resort's Hotel Grande Ballroom.
For Youngstown boxing fans the main attraction of the card will have welterweight Durrell Richardson (4-0, 3 knockouts) in his first six-rounder.
Richardson, the 147-pound national amateur champion in 2002, is the nephew of former world bantamweight champion Greg Richardson. In his last fight, Durrell Richardson, a southpaw, moved quickly around the ring and was evasive, using his right jab effectively and countering with left hooks.
His opponent Thursday will be one of Cleveland's standout amateurs, Delaney Howard, also a national champion, who will make his pro debut.
Richardson, who trains at the Southside Boxing Club, will be handled by Tank DiCioccio.
