Quilt Expo to help Amish
MIDDLEFIELD -- Handmade quilts will be auctioned and sold during the first Quilt Expo from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. Vendors will sell quilt-related items, wall hangings and handcrafted gifts at Mike Davis Auctioneers, 15864 Nauvoo Road, where the auction will be at 1 p.m. Proceeds will benefit health organizations that serve the Amish community. Middlefield Market also will be open for sales of furniture, baked goods, Southwestern jewelry and more.
Free concert
VIENNA -- VFW Post 3521 is sponsoring a free concert by Alex Bevan at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the gazebo in the township center. Seating will be on the lawn.
Blues band comingto Maennerchor Club
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Numbers Band, a blues group from Kent with more than 30 years of performance history, will play at 9 p.m. Aug. 21 at Maennerchor Club, 831 Mahoning Ave. Tickets are $10 in advance by calling Raven Dreams Productions at (330) 747-5404. Proceeds will benefit the Youngstown branch of Peace Action for a Sane World. The Numbers Band recently re-released its 1974 album "Jimmy Bell's Still in Town," which has been reviewed in Village Voice and Rolling Stone magazines.
