MAHONING COUNTY Grand jury will consider child pornography charges

A man is accused of stealing money from people trying to buy puppies.
AUSTINTOWN -- A Mahoning County grand jury is set to consider child pornography charges against a Spring Meadow Circle man.
Wladyslaw "Walter" Piskor, 62, is charged with pandering obscenity involving a minor, pandering sexually oriented material involving a minor, illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material, and possession of criminal tools. The charges are felonies.
Piskor, who turned himself in to police last week, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on the charges in county court in Austintown this morning, and Judge David D'Apolito sent his case to the grand jury.
Piskor's attorney, Thomas Schubert, said Piskor would plead innocent if indicted.
Evidence
Austintown Detective Sgt. Frank Tomasino said he found 27 pornographic images, many of them involving children, on a computer disc seized from Piskor's house during a search July 7. Investigators said they also have an e-mail sent by Piskor that includes three pornographic images involving children.
Reports state that the e-mail was sent to 36 people, including an investigator with the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Justice, who were in an America Online chat room for adults.
The investigator's responsibilities include looking for those who deal in child pornography.
Piskor's computer also was seized during the July 7 search and is being examined by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation, Tomasino said.
Accused of stealing
A county grand jury also is set to consider charges against a Boardman man accused of stealing money from people trying to buy puppies. Robert Petrovich Jr., 32, of Glenwood Avenue, is charged with two counts of felony theft.
Petrovich also waived his right to a preliminary hearing on the charges in county court in Austintown, and Judge D'Apolito sent his case to the grand jury.
Police said five people paid Petrovich a total of $2,000 to buy puppies and never received their puppies.
Police said Petrovich told the people he operated a company called The Perfect Puppy LLC. Petrovich also has listed advertisements in newspapers offering to sell puppies.
