NORTH LIMA -- Organizers of the annual corn roast and reunion at Woodworth Park in Beaver Township hope area residents arrive early and come hungry.
Sponsored by the township park board, the event, in its second year, will be serving up all the corn and hot dogs township residents can consume. That is, until supplies run out, said Scott Conway, park board chairman.
Activities will run from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Woodworth Park. Admission is free to all township residents. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
A success
Last year, about 300 area residents attended the event. Conway said this year organizers are hoping to see at least 600 folks.
"We had a great time last year, and it's great that we're able to have the roast again this year," Conway said. "It really was a success for the township. We'd like to see more people this year.
"It's a way to get township residents together and give them a day that they can relax and have some fun together."
The event will feature performances by the band Unique, which will offer a variety of music, including some dance tunes. Calliope Clyde's Band Organ also will be featured. There will be a live domesticated skunk display as well as a variety of other activities.
Area church youth groups and members of Boy Scout Troop 80 and the township's fire and safety, police, recycling, emergency management services and road departments will be on hand. "There's something for everyone," Conway said.
