CANFIELD ROAD Police catch 2 boys after car chase

YOUNGSTOWN -- Two stolen cars speeding along Canfield Road were abandoned near Arden Boulevard around 2 a.m. today after a police chase, and police captured two boys who ran.
Daqyuan R. Hackett, 14, of East Judson Avenue and Marques Duvall, 17, of Parkview Avenue were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center. They were in stable condition this morning.
A police hold was placed on the boys. When they are released they will be transferred to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center to face charges of receiving stolen property, police said.
Neither admitted driving but did acknowledge being in the cars, police said. The boys told police that each car had three occupants.

Police said a 1993 blue Oldsmobile Cutlass was stolen from the Normandy apartment complex on Canfield Road and a 1988 blue Oldsmobile Ciera was stolen from a parking lot on Gluck Street.
Austintown police notified city police that the two Oldsmobiles ran the red light at Canfield and Meridian roads, and Austintown pursued the cars eastbound into the city. Meridian is the dividing line between Austintown and Youngstown.
The cars were moving so fast that officers couldn't see any of the occupants or get license plate numbers, police said. Both cars ran the red light at Canfield and Hopkins roads, and the driver of the Ciera lost control and hit and toppled a utility pole just east of Arden Boulevard.
The Cutlass then spun out, avoiding the pole.
Hackett, with several cuts on his face, was found about 10 feet away from the Ciera. Duvall, who suffered cuts on his face and body, was caught running through rear yards on Cascade.
