New homes on hold over drainage issue
COLUMBIANA -- The city planning commission delayed the start of a housing development on County Line Road because of neighbors' concerns about storm water drainage.
Rob Struharik of Master Plan Builders, North Lima, and other representatives of the company were seeking final approval for Old Saybrook, a development of single-family homes on County Line between the Jamestown Trace development and Eureka Road.
Bob Belding, city building and zoning officer, said the planning commission has the option on any development to require more study before giving final approval. After about a dozen residents of Jamestown Trace voiced concerns about storm water drainage, the commission decided to have the developers' drainage plans approved by a second engineer.
In other business, the commission allowed Larry Deidrick to relocate his Internet marketing company to 112 S. Main St., the former site of Campbell's cleaners. Deidrick had operated the business from his home. At the Main Street storefront he also will sell office furniture.
Bob Brennan of Brennan Builders Inc. of Evans City, Pa., hopes to have two condominiums under roof by year's end at The Links at Firestone Farms. The commission gave Brennan preliminary approval for seven condos on the golf course. Each building will have three units ranging in price from $275,000 to $350,000.
