Boardman trustees vote to place 2.5-mill renewal levy on ballot
BOARDMAN -- Trustees passed a resolution Monday evening to place a 2.5-mill, five-year renewal levy for current operating expenses on the Nov. 2 ballot.
The levy raises almost $2 million annually for the township.
Trustees awarded a $74,470 contract to CTC Excavating of Boardman for a storm sewer upgrade on East and West Parkside drives.
Trustees also awarded the same company a $69,567 contract for a culvert replacement on Huntington Drive, which is being paid for partly by township money and partly by Federal Emergency Management Agency funds in the wake of storm damage last year.
Declaring it "vital to the Mahoning Valley and the country,'' trustees also passed a resolution in support of retention of the Youngstown Air Reserve Station as the Base Realignment and Closure Commission evaluates military bases across the country for possible consolidation or closure next year.
