Surprise party held on DeRose 50th anniversary

XGIRARD -- The 50th anniversary of their wedding was celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. John M. DeRose Sr., 1030 Gary Ave., during a surprise dinner party held Aug. 7 at Alberini's in Niles.
Hosts for the event were the couple's children and their spouses, Carla and Thomas Orlando of Girard and John Jr. and Sandy DeRose of Wellington, Fla. There is one grandchild in the family.
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Youngstown was the setting Aug. 7, 1954, as Mr. DeRose and the former Susanne Garosella were united in marriage. The couple are members of St. Rose Church.
Mrs. DeRose retired in 1993 from Nickles Bakery Inc., where she was a clerk, and Mr. DeRose retired in 1987 from the city of Girard Street Department.
