Miss Mellinger, Mr. Handel set wedding date

XCOLUMBIANA -- Robert and Margaret Garwood, 2538 Middleton Road, and Robert Mellinger, 116 Hawkins Lane, are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Leigh Mellinger of the Middleton Road address, and Jeffrey Michael Handel, a son of Mr. and Mrs. James Handel, all of 548 Hickory Hollow Drive, Canfield.
Miss Mellinger graduated from Muskingum College in New Concord with a bachelor's degree in psychology. She is a second-year medical student at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens.
Mr. Handel, a process engineer with Delphi Packard Electric Systems in Warren, earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at Youngstown State University and is pursuing a master's in that field at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
The couple have chosen Dec. 23 as the date for their open wedding at 1:30 p.m. at St. Jude Church. Invitations will be extended for their evening reception at The Georgetown in Boardman.
