YOUNGSTOWN -- Antioch Baptist Church, 110 Funston St., will have its Annual Ushers Day at 4 p.m. Aug. 15. The Rev. Kenneth Paramore of United Baptist Church of Akron will be the guest speaker.
Musical events
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Free Methodist Community Church, 9900 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, is planning a music festival from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The church will also host a concert presented by the Youngstown Community Band at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 18. Both events are free and will feature food and fellowship.
'Christmas in August'
GIRARD -- Girard First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St. (across from the Girard Post Office), invites the community to "Christmas In August" at 10 a.m. Aug. 22. The service will feature Christmas carols and music, a unique story for the children, and an important message about "Operation Christmas Child." Last year the church sent more than 80 shoe boxes full of Christmas gifts to the organization, which distributed them to needy children around the world. Snow drifts (root beer floats) will be served after the service.
Tent meetings set
HERMITAGE, PA. -- Miracle Valley Church, 2119 Valleyview Road, Hermitage, will have tent meetings at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily, Aug. 22-25, with the Rev. Sam DeJoy and guest ministers Woody Woodson and John Rasicci.
'Senior High Night'
AUSTINTOWN -- Lynkirk Church of Christ, 4199 Kirk Road, will have its first "Senior High Night" from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12. The first program is "Messy Night." Wear old clothes, and bring raw eggs, filled water balloons and squirt guns. The program, open to youths in grades eight to 12, will take place the second and fourth Sunday of each month. Grief counseling offered
WARREN -- Catholic Charities Regional Agency of Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull counties is offering four sessions on "How To Help Yourself Through Grief." The sessions will be from 2 to 3:30 p.m. and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9, 16, 23 and 30, at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church School Building, third floor, 175 Laird Ave., Warren. The program is for people of all faiths. There is no cost.
Free movie night
BOARDMAN -- The public is invited to a free movie night at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 98 Homestead Drive, at 8:30 Aug. 27. There will be games and refreshments and a G-rated movie shown in the parking lot. Attendees may bring lawn chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the event will be indoors.

HUBBARD -- Sacred Heart St. Padre Pio Prayer Group will be showing videos Aug. 15 at the Great Command, 486 S. Main St. Videos scheduled are Pope John Paul II "Witness to Hope" at noon; St. Maria Faustina "Time for Mercy" at 3 p.m. and Mother Teresa "In the name of God's Poor" at 5 p.m. St. Padre Pio "Family Holy Hour" will be at 3 p.m. Aug. 22 at St. Patrick Church, 367 N. Main St. The schedule includes intentions, rosary, Chaplet of the Divine Mercy and Life of Jesus Christ video.
Worship leaders to speak
CORTLAND - Cortland Trinity Baptist Church, 2576 McCleary Jacoby Road, Cortland, will host "More Than Music: The What, Why, and How of Congregational Worship" via satellite from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 26. Dr. Robert Webber, founder and director of the Institute for Worship Studies, will speak about how worship can best be integrated into the life of the local church. The program is for traditional, contemporary and postmodern congregations. Also speaking will be worship leaders: Chris Tomlin, Ron Kenoly, Dennis Jernigan, Floyd Ellsworth and Joel Engle. There is no cost, but those planning to attend should register by Aug. 24 at (330) 637-1421.
Holy Ghost church picnic
AUSTINTOWN -- Holy Ghost Orthodox Church will have its church picnic from 3 to 8 p.m. Aug. 15 at Old Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church picnic grounds, 430 N. Raccoon Road. There will be music by Libby, silent and Chinese auctions, food and deserts and dancing. Admission is $2.
